Board votes for pre-Labor Day start for 2026-27 school year

The 2026-27 school year will begin on Aug. 31, 2026, following action taken by the Colonial School District Board of Directors.

Board members voted unanimously to approve the pre-Labor Day start at their Aug. 21st meeting. This will be the third consecutive year that the District will start in August, as a way to get in more valuable instructional time while also honoring various holidays and breaks. Starting before Labor Day has the added benefits of putting Colonial School District in sync with nearby districts and Central Montco Technical High School and being able to end school by the second week of June.

With the 2026-27 school year return date established, the district will now work to plan out the remainder of the instructional calendar and bring it back to the Board for approval later this year.
