Our Principals

Dr. Kylene Phillips, Principal

pic of Kylene Phillips Dr. Kylene Phillips joined the Colonial School District administrative team as Assistant Principal of Colonial Elementary School in October 2015 and moved to the Principal position at Plymouth Elementary School in January 2021. Dr. Phillips had spent the seven years prior as a teacher and administrator in the School District of Philadelphia. Most recently she was Dean of Students at Woodrow Wilson Middle School serving on the administrative leadership team and being responsible for facilitating professional development, student discipline and more.

Dr. Phillips also taught elementary and middle school classes, including sixth grade International Baccalaureate classes in science and mathematics. She holds instructional certifications in K-12 Administration, Elementary Education, and Middle School Science, Math, English, and Citizenship Education.

Dr. Phillips earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from King's College, a M.Ed. with Administrative Certification from Cabrini College, and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Arcadia University.

Megan Barone, Assistant Principal

Megan Barone

Megan Barone was named the Assistant Principal at Plymouth Elementary School in 2025, after serving as the interim assistant principal during the spring of the 2024-2025 school year. She taught second and third grade at PE for eight years and started in Colonial as a second grade teacher at Conshohocken Elementary School in 2016.

“I believe a truly great school is one where students, families, and staff feel seen, heard, and valued,” said Mrs. Barone. “I’m committed to holding high expectations with compassion, creating a space where students can thrive both academically and emotionally. My hope is that every child at PE feels a strong sense of belonging and has the tools and support they need to succeed.”

At Colonial, Mrs. Barone has been an active participant in the PE School Improvement Team, the Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Leadership Team, district curriculum teams, and school climate initiatives. She has also done choreography for the Colonial Players theater club at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.     

Mrs. Barone holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and Dance and M.S. in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum from Drexel University. She is currently completing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Temple University.
